I am an experienced teacher and currently Head of English and Media in a large secondary school. I am also an examiner for EDUQAS English Language GCSE. I have a range of resources available on TES. Some of my resources are quite old, from when I first started out, and I am currently working in my spare time to update my resources. There are a range of resources from displays, schemes of work, revision booklets, mock exam papers and lessons available.

Eduqaas poetry anthology homework menu

To tackle the lack of enthusiasm about homework in my school I created a menu of homework. This one targets the Eduqaas poetry anthology and gives opportunities to independently research and extend learning. There are 25 homeworks already planned, differentiated by 'spice'. Since using these menus, where the students pick for themselves, the amount and quality of homework has improved.

To ensure our students understood their grades and progress, I created a tracking grid that shows each half terms grade, as well as a graph to map on their progress and a two line self made target to demonstrate they are responding to feedback and recognising how they can improve. P4C, Philosophy for Children, lesson on Animal Rights, using SeaWorld

A P4C lesson discussing animal rights and morality, using an article about Tilikum the whale in SeaWorld and the documentary Blackfish. A good way to have students discuss, justify and improve reasoning skills. A writer in role task is also included at the end of the lesson that can be used as an exit ticket, or homework, which encourages students to play 'devils advocate'.
